Guy at the estate sale in Tulsa said "nobody reads anymore, that's why I'm selling all of it," and it's been bugging me for 3 days
So I'm standing in this packed garage on Saturday morning, and he's got two full tables of old hardcovers marked a dollar each, plus a whole run of 1970s sci-fi paperbacks in milk crates. I asked if he'd cut me a deal on ten of them and he just shrugged and said that line about nobody reading, like the whole collection was junk to him. I paid $12 for the ten and honestly felt weird about it, like I was taking something off his hands he never wanted to let go of. Two of them turned out to be first printings with the original price still penciled inside, so he clearly cared once. Has anyone else run into sellers who talk down their own stuff like that, and do you try to say something or just keep quiet and pay?
