My cousin's kid asked why we still argue about books from 10 years ago

We were cleaning out my garage in Phoenix and found my old copy of 'The Goldfinch' with all our book club notes in the margins. She said 'if you already talked about it, why keep fighting?' I guess we don't see it as fighting, but she has a point about holding onto old debates. What's a book your group still brings up from way back?

Honestly, we still talk about 'The Road' from like fifteen years ago. Tbh it's less about fighting and more that some books just stick with you, you know? The good ones leave you with questions that don't really have easy answers. Finding your old notes probably just brings all that back up fresh.

Exactly. Some stories just get under your skin for good. Like that scene in The Road with the canned peaches, or the man telling his son to carry the fire. It's not about the plot, it's that heavy feeling it leaves in your chest. Finding old notes is like opening a door back into that same room. The questions feel just as big as they did the first time.
