Old timer told me to stop using soap on my stinger leads
Guy with 30 years in the trade said dish soap breaks down the insulation over time. I didnt believe him but sure enough, my leads started cracking after 6 months. Any of you guys just use a dry rag to clean your rod holders?

Did you ever use like a silicone-based spray instead? I heard somewhere that dish soap can also leave a residue that makes salt stick more, which could mess with the insulation too. Idk, maybe it's a mix of both things that causes the cracking.
