Changed my mind about using a standard grinder disc on that old boiler plate
Had a job replacing a section of firebox plate in a 1950s unit, figured my usual 4.5-inch cutoff wheel would be fine. Spent almost two hours trying to get a clean cut through the scale and just kept burning up discs. A guy on site handed me a pack of those thin kerf metal blades for a reciprocating saw and said to give it a shot. Made the cut in under ten minutes with way less spark shower. Anyone have a better tool for thick, scaled plate like that?

Yeah, I've been that guy burning through discs... stubbornness is an expensive tool sometimes.
