Walked into a game store in Pittsburgh and watched 4 guys play a 3 hour game without saying one word to each other
Stopped by a shop on the north side of Pittsburgh last weekend while visiting my brother, and there was a table of four dudes deep in some heavy euro game. Nobody talked. Not a single word for the 40 minutes I was browsing. One guy would take his turn, then just stare at the board while the next guy thought for like 5 minutes straight. I get that some games are brain burners, but this felt less like fun and more like a math exam nobody signed up to proctor. Over at the other table, a group of five was laughing their heads off playing what looked like a party game and having a blast. Same store, same Saturday, totally different vibe. I'm not saying heavy games are bad, I own a few, but the silent table thing bugs me. Half the reason I play is to hang out with people. Has anyone else watched a group basically play solo games at the same table, or is my local scene just weird?
