The guy who runs my Tuesday night group asked me to name the last game I thought about after we packed up, and my answer surprised me
We were stacking boxes at the end of the night at his place out in Beaverton, and he asked it kind of offhand, not as a gotcha. I sat there for a second and could not name a single one of the big fancy games we played that month. What popped into my head instead was a beat up copy of For Sale we ran three times in a row after two people left early. He laughed and said that happens to him too, the games that stick are the ones where everybody at the table is leaning in and talking trash, not the ones with 40 pages of rules and a miniatures tray. I've been buying stuff based on how impressive it looks on the shelf, and the stuff we keep coming back to costs under $20 and fits in a jacket pocket. So now I've got a shelf full of big boxes I like the idea of more than I like playing. How do you all decide what actually earns a spot on the table every week, and do you ever cull the pretty stuff you never get out?
