I finally figured out why my long exposure shots were always soft

Spent 6 months thinking it was my tripod being wobbly but it turned out to be the mirror slap from my old Canon body vibrating through the whole setup, anyone else deal with that specific issue?

Spent 6 months thinking it was my tripod being wobbly" - man, that's rough but six months for mirror slap? I feel like you could have figured that out in a weekend with some test shots and a timer. Mirror slap is a thing, sure, but it's one of those problems that only really shows up with super long exposures or shaky setups. Unless you're shooting at 1/30th shutter speed on a flimsy desk, I doubt it's ruining your whole portfolio. Maybe check if your lens or sensor is actually clean first, because that's way more common. Not saying you're wrong, just saying mirror slap sounds like the scapegoat here.

Lol yeah that's a good point. Mirror slap gets blamed for everything when half the time it's just dirty glass or the wind blowing your setup a little. I swear some people act like their camera has a built in earthquake machine the second they flip the mirror up.
