Hit 500 railroad spikes forged last week and it got me thinking

I was just cleaning up my shop after a long Saturday and counted my finished spike knives... somehow I've made over 500 of them without really noticing. That's a lot of hours at the anvil just banging out the same shape over and over. Anyone else ever count up a specific project and get surprised by the total?

Start doing batches of 25 then take a break.

Man I had a buddy who got into making steel roses from rebar and he said he was just cranking them out for craft fairs and one day he sat down and counted the ones he had stacked up in his garage and it was like 400 something. He still had a pile of the first ones he ever made that were all crooked and ugly but he kept them anyway. @evan_anderson is right though, little batches help keep your head straight.
