That final chapter where the ghost becomes the narrator still messes with me
I was at a coffee shop in Austin last month reading this thriller, and on the last page the POV flips to the dog who died in chapter 3. I literally dropped my iced latte on the floor, the barista asked if I was okay, and I just pointed at the book like it personally insulted me. The whole mystery gets re-explained through bark metaphors and it ends with the dog saying 'woof' as a full sentence. Has anyone else hit a twist that was so random it felt like the author gave up and just trolled the readers?

Hearing that about the dog twist got me. I read a book once where the villain turned out to be the mailbox the whole time, and it just described the neighborhood for two pages. I sat there flipping back like, wait, did I miss a chapter? It felt less like a plot twist and more like the author spilled coffee on their notes and said screw it. But honestly, yours with the bark metaphors might be worse. I'd have thrown the book across the room if a ghost dog started narrating my whole mystery.
