That bizarre ending finally made sense after I skimmed the last chapter twice

I read this thriller last month where the main character just vanishes with zero explanation in the final paragraph. Drove me nuts for three days. Then I went back and read the last chapter out loud and realized the narrator had been dead the whole time, the clues were all there in the small details. It was like a lightbulb went off, weirdest thing. Has anyone else had an ending click only after a second or third pass? What book was it for you?
