That $30 'revised edition' of The Owlman of Mawnan was a complete scam
Bought it last year thinking the ending got fixed. Turns out they just swapped two chapters around and called it done. The final page still has the main character walking into a phone booth and never coming out. Anyone else get burned by a publisher cashing in on a cult book?

The phone booth ending is actually the whole POINT of the book. The author said in a 1992 interview that the phone booth represents the liminal space between reality and folklore. You cant "fix" that because its supposed to be unsettleing. That revised edition did swap chapter 14 and 17 around though, which messes up the timeline of the police investigation subplot. I noticed it too when the detective mentions evidence he wouldnt have found yet.

Huh, I guess I just read it for fun and didn't realize I was supposed to be getting all existential about phone booths. Feels like overthinking a weird ending but hey, you do you.
