My sister's take on a horror novel's ending made me rethink my own favorite

She said the monster was actually the narrator's grief the whole time, and now I can't stop seeing that pattern in every bizarre ending I pick up, so has anyone else had a family member totally flip how you read a book?

Your sister's idea stuck with you because once you see grief as the hidden lens, every odd ending starts to feel like real life, where we're all just making sense of loss.
