Spent $180 on a hospital-grade pump before placement, and I want to know if it was worth it
I placed my son in 2022 and dropped almost $200 on a Medela Symphony rental for six weeks after he was born. My mom thought I was throwing money away since he wasn't coming home with me, but my supply was so painful I couldn't sleep or even hold a conversation without crying. The lactation nurse at the hospital in Spokane told me drying up cold turkey could cause clogged ducts and fevers, so I rented it. A cheaper manual pump did nothing for me, and I still wonder if I could have saved that money for therapy instead. Did anyone else pay for pumping stuff after placement, and did it actually help or just drag the grief out longer?
