Tuesday I did 11 tune-ups before noon and then a guy paid me $60 to "fix" a bike that just had the chain on wrong
I was slammed from open to close last Tuesday at the shop on Grand Ave, 11 tune-ups plus a brake bleed on a rusted-out commuter before lunch. Then this guy rolls in with a bike he swore was dead, drops it on the stand, and the chain was just routed through the derailleur cage wrong. Two minutes, no parts, and he hands me $60 because he'd been quoted $200 at another shop for a "drivetrain rebuild." That has to be the best hour I've had all month, but it also bugs me that some shop out there is out here charging folks for air. How do you all handle it when a customer insists on paying way over what you actually did?
