Tubeless sealant that dried up in 2 weeks, so I went back to tubes for a while
Last spring I set up my gravel bike tubeless with some popular sealant, thought I did everything right, shook the bottle, injected the right amount, all that. Two weeks later I get a slow leak in my garage and when I pull the tire, the sealant is this chunky rubber blob stuck to the rim tape, not liquid at all. I patched it with a tube and rode that way for months, telling people tubeless was overhyped. Then a buddy at the shop near downtown Portland said I probably left the bottle open or used an old batch, so I tried again with a fresh quart and checked it after 30 days, still liquid and it sealed a thorn hole on a ride last Tuesday. My question is, how do you know your sealant is still good without pulling the tire off every month?

Happened to me with the same junk, swore off tubeless for a whole season and went back to tubes too. Turns out my bottle had been sitting in a hot garage for like eight months, now I just buy the small containers and mark the date with a sharpie when I crack them open. Still check the tires every few weeks though, just gives me peace of mind.
