TIL a pitmaster in Lockhart told me his fire hasn't gone out in 12 years

I was buying a brisket at a joint off Highway 183 and the old guy tending the pit pointed at the coals and said he just keeps adding wood to the same bed, never lets it die. Got me wondering if anyone else here has kept a fire going that long or if that's just an old Texas tale.
