Why does nobody talk about clipper oil on the skin before a lineup

I was doing a crispy lineup on a client in Phoenix last Saturday and the blade kept catching on his jawline, so I finally tried wiping a drop of clipper oil on his skin before the edges. It glided way smoother and he said it felt better than any shave he'd had, but I've never seen another barber mention this trick in any video or shop I've worked in. Has anyone else tried this or am I just asking for a breakout on the next guy?

Wipe it off with a dry cloth first, oil sits on top and clogs pores.
