A guy in Amarillo sat in my chair for 40 minutes saying nothing, then one sentence floored me
Last Thursday I had a walk-in around 2pm, older guy, maybe 70, just wanted a basic taper. He barely said two words the whole cut, which is fine, some guys just want quiet. When I spun him around to check the back in the mirror, he stared at himself for a second and said his late wife always told him he looked better with shorter sides. Said she passed 8 months ago and he hadn't been able to sit in a shop since because she used to come with him every time and give the barber notes. I didn't know what to say so I just told him the sides looked clean and he nodded. He paid, tipped me $10 on a $22 cut, and walked out without another word. I've cut hair 11 years and that was maybe the quietest reminder that this chair is about way more than fades. Any of you ever get a client who turns a regular cut into something way heavier than you expected?
