Those $22 collapsible fabric pots fell apart after 6 weeks on my south-facing balcony
I set up four of these on my balcony in Phoenix back in May, thinking they looked nicer than plastic and would be easy to move around when the afternoon sun got too strong. By week six the handles had torn off two of them, and the fabric on the sun side of the third pot was so dried out it cracked when I bumped it. Lost about $22 on the pots plus a cherry tomato start and a basil plant that tipped over when the handle let go. I know a lot of people love them for patios, but on a west or south balcony that gets blasted all day they just don't hold up. Has anyone found a semi-soft pot that actually survives a full summer of direct sun, or should I just go back to the boring black plastic ones?
