My neighbor swore by mixing coffee grounds into my tomato pots

I tried it for a month and my plants got way more yellow leaves than before! Has anyone else had a bad result with coffee grounds?

Ever wonder if some gardening tips are just old wives' tales? I knew a guy who used banana peels for roses and just got more fruit flies. Sometimes the fix is worse than the problem.

Honestly @thea_knight, it's just gardening. People get SO worked up about perfect soil or magic fixes. Banana peels might bring flies, but they also rot and feed the dirt. Same deal with eggshells for slugs, it's messy but not a crisis. Most of this stuff is just harmless tinkering that keeps folks busy.
