My landlord's nephew swore by milk jugs as tomato pots, what a disaster
Last March my landlord's 19 year old nephew who "farms" told me to cut 5 gallon milk jugs in half and grow Roma tomatoes right in them on my balcony, no drainage holes needed because the plastic sweats. Four weeks in the roots rotted and the whole setup smelled like a dumpster behind a dairy in Portland. Has anyone else gotten confidently wrong balcony gardening advice from a random relative, or is my family uniquely cursed?
