My cherry tomato trellis snapped after 3 weeks - total collapse on Tuesday
I built this cute little bamboo trellis for my cherry tomatoes back in April, thinking it would hold up fine. Tuesday morning I went to water them and the whole thing had tilted over, the main stem snapped right at the base because I didn't brace it deep enough into the pot. Now I gotta start over with a proper cage from Home Depot, has anyone had luck with those spiral stakes for balconies?

Read somewhere that bamboo trellises rot fast if they touch damp soil.

Oh @lewis.mila, you are so right about that. Bamboo is a natural material so it breaks down fast when it stays wet all the time. It is disappointing because bamboo looks so nice and is cheaper than metal or plastic options. I have tried using bamboo stakes in the past and they did rot right at the soil line after just one season. That is such a waste of money and time replanting everything. Have you ever tried coating the bottoms with paint or sealer? I heard that can help a little but nothing lasts forever when it is touching damp ground.
