My mom told me my pie crust was too tough and she was right

I had been making pie crust for years and it always came out thick and chewy. She said I was overworking the dough and needed to stop after the butter was just pea-sized. Has anyone else had a relative drop some honest criticism that actually improved their baking?

Did you watch that Bake It Better video where the host says you should be able to see chunks of butter in the dough? I tried it and it made a huge difference in tenderness.

Agreed @sams25, I tried that trick too and my biscuits came out way flakier.
