Tried making a 12-layer rainbow cake for a kid's party in Portland and it turned into a leaning tower
I used a full box of gel food coloring and baked each layer separately, but they all came out different heights and the whole thing started to tilt after the third tier. I had to prop it up with a bunch of wooden skewers hidden in the frosting. Has anyone else had a cake just decide to go rogue on them?

Oh man, that cake sounds like it had a mind of its own! My last layer cake looked more like a modern art sculpture.

...and my buddy Sarah had basically the same thing happen with a cake she made for her nephew's birthday in Seattle. She spent like 6 hours on it, all these perfect marble layers, and the second she put the top tier on the whole thing just kinda slid sideways. She ended up having to use like 12 kebab sticks and a ton of extra frosting to hold it together. The kids called it the "off-road cake" because it looked like it was driving up a hill. She was so mad at first but then everyone thought it was hilarious and took pictures with it.
