Can we talk about that crazy humid week in July that ruined my sourdough starter
The humidity in Atlanta last July was so high my starter went from bubbly to a flat, acidic mess in just two days, and I had to explain to six regulars why their weekly loaves were canceled.

My starter in Savannah turned into a science experiment last August. It smelled like old gym socks and I had to toss three cups of flour down the drain.

Three whole cups of flour? That's the real crime here. I would have cried watching that go down the drain. Flour isn't cheap anymore. I get having to toss a bad starter, but losing that much good flour on top of it is just brutal.
