Just realized my roommate's 'fix' made the leak worse
Our toilet ran nonstop for a week, so Dave tightened the valve with a wrench, but he cracked the supply line at the base. By Tuesday morning, water was soaking through the ceiling into the kitchen below, and the landlord sent a plumber who charged me $240 for the damage. He showed me how the old rubber gasket was the real issue, and now I read every label before letting anyone touch the plumbing. Anyone else have a roommate whose DIY attempt turned into a bigger bill than the original problem?

Dave fixing a leak is like me trying to trim my own bangs, sure it seemed like a good idea at 2am but now everyone gets to see the damage. A wrench on a cracked supply line is basically just speeding up the inevitable flood, and $240 later you got a free lesson in plumbing 101. Guess his "help" came with a hidden fee for the water show in your kitchen ceiling. At least now you know the real culprit was that tired old gasket, not the valve itself. Nothing says teamwork like paying for a mistake that was never yours to begin with, right?
