My $8 thrift store DVD player ate The Room disc two minutes before the party started
Hosted bad movie night at my place in Tucson last Friday with 6 friends. Found a $8 DVD player at a thrift store and figured it was a steal. Mistake. Two minutes into The Room, the disc got stuck and the player started making this grinding noise. Sounded like a blender full of gravel. Tried the old unplug and plug back in trick twice, nothing. Ended up streaming it off my laptop with the sound going through a guitar amp. Honestly, the tinny amp audio made Tommy Wiseau sound even weirder, so the night was saved. Now I need a player that can survive a bad movie marathon. Anybody got a brand that holds up to heavy use, or am I better off just sticking to streaming?
