Went with pavers over a poured slab for my 12x14 patio and I'm already second guessing it
Two months back I had to choose between a poured concrete slab and pavers for a 12x14 patio behind my garage in Tacoma, and I went with pavers because the guy said they'd handle our soggy winters better. So far the base has settled unevenly near the fire pit corner and one edge stone rocks a bit when you step on it, which is driving me up the wall. Did you deal with settling like this, and did re-sanding the joints actually fix it or am I looking at pulling stones up?
Did the guy put down a full base or just sand? That's usually the whole story right there. Two months is way too fast for that much settling unless the base was too thin or the dirt under it wasn't packed down. Re-sanding will fill the gaps and stop the rocking for a bit, but it won't fix a bad base, so if that corner keeps dropping you're pulling stones.
