The compost bin at the Boise garden show changed how I build raised beds
I went to the Boise Home and Garden Show last Saturday just to kill a couple hours and ended up standing in front of a compost demo for 45 minutes. The guy running it, Marcus, had built a three bin system out of pallets and hardware cloth for $38 total, and he showed me how he slides each bin over instead of lifting anything. I'd been building raised beds with a solid wood base for 6 years, which meant lifting heavy buckets every time I turned the pile. The next day I pulled the base off my oldest bed and switched it to a slide out panel using two scrap 2x4s. Took me about an hour and my back already feels better after one turning. Anyone else switch their bed design after seeing someone else's setup, or am I late to this?
