Spent 3 months building a shed wrong before a neighbor said something
I was putting up a 10x12 shed in my backyard in Phoenix and kept having issues with the roof trusses not lining up. My neighbor Bill came over after he saw me swearing at it for the third weekend in a row. He pointed out that I was using galvanized nails with untreated lumber and the moisture from the morning dew was causing them to back out slightly. Switched to hot-dipped galvanized nails and everything clicked into place after that. Now I check nail types before I even buy them. Anyone else find that small hardware choices mess up their whole project?

Hey @beth_mitchell, didn't you just say you fight projects with the wrong screws? Nails do the same thing. Hot-dipped are usually better for treated lumber but plain galvanized work fine with dry wood. Just got to match them up right or everything fights you.

Oh man, I've definitely spent a whole afternoon fighting a project just to realize I used the wrong screws lol.
