My neighbor said my shed looked like a 'giant plastic toy' and it made me rethink everything

Honestly, I was proud of my 8x10 foot resin shed I put up last spring. It was cheap and easy. But my neighbor, who builds furniture, walked over and just said it looked like a giant plastic toy and wouldn't last five years in our Michigan winters. Tbh, it stung, but he had a point about the thin walls and weak floor frame. So this year, I'm building a proper 10x12 wood shed with a real foundation, using pressure-treated skids and 2x4 framing. It's costing me about $1,200 more, but it feels solid. Has anyone else had a project totally change direction after some blunt feedback?

Oh man, that reminds me of my deck. I built it with those cheap composite boards because they said no maintenance. My buddy, a contractor, came over, stepped on one end, and the whole thing had a bounce like a trampoline. He just shook his head and said "You built a diving board, not a deck." I was so mad for a week, but then I went back and added a ton more joists and proper concrete footings. It doesn't bounce anymore, but I still get teased about it.

Wait, you built it WITHOUT concrete footings first?
