My neighbor in Reno said to pour my shed slab 6 inches thick, and my back still hurts from digging it
He swore up and down that anything less would crack in our freeze thaw cycles. So I dug out 6 inches deep over a 12x10 pad and hauled in about 40 bags of concrete by hand in my wheelbarrow. Two summers later the slab has zero cracks, but a guy at the supply yard said 4 inches would've been fine since it's just a shed. Now I'm planning a small pergola base and wondering if I really need to go that deep again, or if I got lucky. What depth are you all pouring for light stuff like that?
