Water filter purge valve was upside down for 2 seasons

I've been using the same Sawyer Squeeze on the John Muir Trail and Desolation Wilderness for a while now. Last week on a quick overnight near Echo Lake, I couldn't get water to flow after a backflush. Turns out the little purge valve on the bottom was threaded on wrong the whole time, I must have crossed it when I first set it up. It was letting air in but not letting water out properly, no wonder my output was always slow. Has anyone else had a similar brain fart with their gravity setup before I go blaming the gear?

Blame the gear, man, the Sawyer is finicky as hell and one little twist shouldn't wreck your whole flow. You probably just got a dud valve, not a user error.
