Update: my uncle in Flagstaff laughed at my 30 pound pack and now I get it
I did the Humphreys Peak loop last month with 30 pounds on my back and my uncle, who has hiked it maybe 40 times, just shook his head at the trailhead. He pulled everything out of my pack on the tailgate and half of it was stuff I never touched, like a second stove and a book. I finished the loop in 9 hours feeling wrecked while he cruised it at 62 years old with a pack that weighed maybe 12 pounds. So what is actually in your pack for a one nighter that you refuse to leave behind?
