My light pack strategy flipped after a wet night near Glacier

I used to carry a 4 pound tent and a 2 pound sleeping bag liner, figured bulk meant comfort. After getting soaked in a surprise storm at Bowman Lake last July, I switched to a 1.8 pound tarp setup and a 30 degree quilt. Took two test trips in the Cascades to trust it, but now I save almost 5 pounds and dry out way faster. Anyone else ditch the full shelter after one bad weather night?

So you went from packing a house on your back to sleeping under a fancy piece of plastic? That wet night must have really done a number on you. I guess a soggy sleeping bag liner is the ultimate gear salesman, huh?
