Just dropped $300 on a satellite communicator for a trip in the Wind River Range... it felt like a lot but it was a total lifesaver when a storm rolled in.

haha honestly i used to think spending that much on a communicator was overkill. like "just bring a power bank" kinda thinking. but then i got caught in a freak hailstorm off trail and my phone was dead in like 20 minutes cause of the cold. completely changed my mind after that. having a way to actually send a message when there's zero cell service is totally worth it. especially in a place like the Winds where weather can turn real fast.
