Found out the Pacific Crest Trail has a 'treadway' width rule and it's way smaller than I pictured
I was reading the official trail guide for the Washington section and it says the maintained tread is only 18 inches wide in most places. I always imagined a big, wide path, not basically a balance beam for 500 miles lol. Anyone else had a trail detail totally change their mental image?

That 18-inch rule is actually for erosion control. Tbh I read a whole thing about how wider paths get pounded into mud channels in the wet sections.
