My lead avionics guy swore by dielectric grease on cannon plugs, I skipped it once
We had a MD-80 in for a intermittent right side pitot heat fault back in March. He told me to always wipe the pins with a light coat before mating, and I figured it was just his superstition. Left it dry, got a flickering flag on the first test flight, had to pull the whole plug again and redo it. Now I keep a little jar in my box and use it every time, has anyone else seen dry pins cause phantom faults like that?

Dielectric grease on cannon plugs is not superstition, it keeps moisture out and stops arcing. Dry pins will absolutely give you ghost faults like that.
