King Air autopilot quit with no warning lights
Was running a post maintenance check on the autopilot. It just shut off halfway through the test. What's the first thing you look at when this happens?

When the autopilot quits with no warning lights, I used to check the power supply first. But after talking to a tech, I learned to start with the manual disconnect switch, it's often the simple fix.

Autopilot failures often get blown out of proportion.

Man, hearing that gives me chills. A buddy of mine had the exact same thing happen in his Baron last year. He was sure it was some big electrical fault, but turns out the disconnect switch had just worn out and was cutting in and out. How crazy is that? He replaced it himself in about twenty minutes, and it's been perfect since. Makes you wonder how often we overlook the simple stuff, right?
