A lead at the Everett plant called my wiring bundles 'a bird's nest' last year.

He said if you can't trace a single wire in under 30 seconds, it's wrong. I started using the lacing cord method he showed me, with a specific pattern every 4 inches. Has anyone else switched to lacing from zip ties for harnesses in tight bays?

That Everett guy sounds like he's making a simple job way too hard.

That 30 second rule from Everett is a real standard. Abby_harris has a point about overcomplicating things, but that rule forces clean work. I saw a bundle fail inspection because a zip tie blocked a sensor port. Lacing lays flat. It takes longer to do right, but it never snags on a tight pull through a bulkhead.
