Honestly I used to just look at the number next to a company name and call it done. Then I shipped my Civic from Phoenix to Denver last month and the company with 4.8 stars turned out to have a bunch of reviews that all said the same exact sentence, which felt off. So I went back and read maybe 40 reviews on a different site and the pattern was clear: carriers with a 4.3 but long, messy reviews about the driver calling ahead and no surprise fees beat the shiny ones every time. Tbh the wording gave it away faster than the score did. One review said the quote went up $150 at pickup and the company never answered the phone, and that was buried under all the 5 star one liners. It took me maybe two weekends of poking around before I figured out what to skip. Has anyone else noticed the low star places sometimes have way more real detail than the top rated ones?
