Can we talk about how nobody checks the carrier's DOT number before booking?
Last month my cousin shipped her Camry from Phoenix to Chicago and the carrier she picked off a broker site turned out to have a DOT number that was inactive for two years. The car sat in a lot in Flagstaff for nine days while she called around, and the broker just kept saying it was "in transit." I pulled the number myself in about two minutes on the FMCSA site and it was dead the whole time. If the listing doesn't show a DOT or MC number, that's your sign to walk, and if it does, look it up yourself. Curious how many of you actually check that stuff or just go off the star rating?
