Took me 10 years to figure out this oil filter trick

So I was wrestling with a stuck oil filter on a 2018 F-150 yesterday, the kind that's mounted sideways and barely reachable. I'd usually just jab a screwdriver through it and pray, but an older mechanic at the parts counter told me to try a nylon strap wrench on the filter's crimp seam. Took maybe 30 seconds and it spun right off without making a mess. Has anyone else had luck with that method on those tricky side-mounted filters?

Ha, I've definitely been that guy jabbing a screwdriver through and hoping for the best. But hey, at least I got a free oil change out of the mess once, right?

Oh man, lucky! I once broke a plastic clip and convinced myself it was "extra airflow." Car ran fine for a year so I guess I wasn't wrong.
