Remember when you could swap an engine in a driveway with basic hand tools? I had to pull a 2023 Civic motor last week and it took me 3 hours just to unclip plastic covers and wiring harnesses.

My old man used to have a 350 swapped in an afternoon and now I'm chasing CAN bus errors on a transmission that's buried under a computer, has anyone else hit the point where they miss carburetors just for simplicity?

350 swapped in an afternoon" - man I gotta call that one out. My old man had a 350 Chevy in a Nova and even with basic tools that thing still took a weekend minimum. Maybe if you had a cherry picker already bolted up and the stars aligned. These new cars are a pain with the plastic and wiring but let's not pretend old iron was always that quick either.

Dude I FEEL you on that. My buddy swore up and down he did a 302 swap in his Fox body Mustang "between breakfast and lunch" and I'm like yeah okay maybe if you had a crew of five and no beer breaks. Respect for calling out the BS, people forget the curse bolts and 20 trips to the parts store.
