Old timer at the shop in Reno said to stop using brake cleaner on MAF sensors, and I finally tried his way
A guy who has been turning wrenches for 30 odd years at our shop in Reno saw me hosing down a MAF sensor with brake cleaner and just shook his head, then handed me a can of electronics cleaner and a Ziploc bag. He said to soak the sensor in a bag with the stuff for 10 minutes and let it air dry, no scrubbing. Did that on a 2014 Silverado 5.3 last week and the rough idle at stop lights went away, so now I'm wondering what other shortcuts I've been doing backwards.
Learned the same thing with cleaning my coffee grinder, turns out scrubbing and harsh stuff just wrecks the parts instead of fixing them. Feels like half the shortcuts people pass down are just bad habits we never questioned lol.
