Just realized my old torque wrench might be way off after a conversation at the parts counter.

I was grabbing a water pump for a 2012 Civic at the local NAPA and the guy ahead of me was returning a digital torque wrench he said was reading 15 foot-pounds low against his master set. I've been using the same click-type wrench from my starter kit for like eight years without checking it. How often do you guys actually get your torque wrenches calibrated, and is it worth buying a decent master set to check them?

That "master set" talk at NAPA got me thinking too.

My buddy tried to build the perfect set of tools, spent a fortune chasing every socket and bit. He ended up with a huge box of stuff he never uses. Sometimes good enough is better than perfect.
