Had a customer's 2017 F-150 come in with a weird idle, turned out to be a $3 vacuum line behind the intake that had melted on the EGR tube.

My buddy spent two weekends chasing a misfire on his Silverado, swapping coils and plugs, and it ended up being a $4 rubber elbow that had split right where you couldn't see it. He still brings it up every time we're wrenching on something, man.

Always figured those weird idle problems were something big. That's wild it was just a cheap hose lol.

You know what's funny? I read a whole article last year about how often the smallest, cheapest part is the real culprit. They said mechanics call them "fifteen dollar parts with a thousand dollar labor charge" because you spend so long looking for the big issue. It's crazy how a tiny air leak from a cracked hose can make a car run so rough. Makes you wonder how many people have paid for major repairs when the fix was simple.
