A fleet manager in St. Louis changed my mind about used parts
I always pushed new OEM stuff on customers, but last month a fleet manager showed me his 5 year tracking sheet on reman alternators versus new, and the failure rates were nearly identical for half the cost. He said, 'You're selling peace of mind, not reliability, and that's a markup I won't pay.' That conversation made me rethink my parts room policy, so now I ask customers if they want the warranty or the savings. Has anyone else switched their default recommendation after talking to someone who buys parts in bulk?
