Update: Stopped by the old high school auto shop in Tacoma
They've got a full electric vehicle training bay now, with a dedicated lift for battery packs. It's a far cry from the single frame rack we learned on back in the day. Anyone else's old training spots totally changed over the years?

Honestly sounds like a waste of money. All that fancy gear just teaches kids to swap parts, not actually fix anything. Bet they still can't rebuild a carburetor.

Modern EVs need different skills, and that gear teaches vital safety stuff.

Rebuilding a carburetor is a great skill if you're planning to time travel back to 1985. The safety stuff they're teaching now is about high voltage systems, not mixing air and fuel. It's like complaining that new pilots don't know how to grease a buggy wheel.
