Spent a whole afternoon trying to stack a 30-second exposure of the Milky Way on my laptop from a trip to Big Bend last fall
Turned out I had forgotten to turn off the camera's long exposure noise reduction, so every shot had a 30-second gap between frames and DeepSkyStacker just gave me a blank preview until I figured it out after like 4 hours of frustration.

Man that's brutal. Big Bend is amazing for astro but losing half a day to a stupid setting is the worst kind of frustration. I've been there with gear issues and it's like the camera knows when you're on a trip and just decides to mess with you. Four hours is a long time to feel like you're going crazy over a blank screen. At least you figured it out before you got home and had nothing to show for it. Hopefully you got at least a couple clean frames after all that hassle.

Honestly that's the worst, glad they salvaged it though.
